Urban Green Space x Wellbeing
by Matt Mycoe
This project focuses on how the green spaces within Sheffield city centre can have a positive impact on the wellbeing of its residents. The idea initially developed through my own experience during my time in nature, where I found it to have a positive effect on my wellbeing. Having taken inspiration from the compelling research carried out by Sheffield based project IWUN (Improving Wellbeing through Urban Nature), I wanted to create a project that uses their research to take action in promoting the natural environment. The project’s focal point is a designated footpath that guides you around the three main green spaces in Sheffield City Centre.
“35% of office workers spend only 15 minutes in nature per day, less than prison inmates”.
Trust me, I’m a Doctor
