Nostalgia
by Phoebe Hurst
Whilst spending time immersing myself in nature, I began to reflect on the memories which were evoked by the rural environment. I realised how much this affected the way I felt about the natural world. This led me to the concept ‘Nostalgia’ which is a short film that reflects on societies' ever-changing relationship with the outdoors, and in parallel the relationship which we have with ourselves. By projecting outside footage on the inside of my home, I began to pull back in memories from a different world. The change of vibrancy and tones, reflects the way our relationship with the outside world is constantly changing.
“The deep and enduring psychological questions - who we are, how we grow, why we suffer, how we heal - are inseparable from our relationships with the physical world.”
John Davis, 2006
